Wendy and Eduardo. A Couples Session in Downtown Austin and the Seaholm District.

Wendy in a black corset and white pants on a concrete ledge smiling down at Eduardo in the Seaholm District, Austin

Downtown Austin’s west edge, around the Seaholm District, is the most architectural stretch of the city: brutalist concrete, louvered metal, glass that reflects the skyline back at itself. Wendy and Eduardo’s session leaned all the way into it.

She wore a black embroidered corset with white wide-leg pants, he wore textured white, and instead of standing them side by side we used the architecture: Wendy up on a concrete ledge with Eduardo below her, the two of them split by a sage-grey column, a black and white frame against the louvers where only her smile is in focus. The distance between them in some of these images is the point. Editorial photography treats space as tension, and the reunion two frames later lands harder for it.

If your idea of couples photos involves a field and matching outfits, this is the opposite, and that is why it works.

Where should you take editorial couples photos in Austin? The Seaholm District and the surrounding blocks of downtown, where the concrete and glass do the styling for you. Friesen Co photographs couples and engagement sessions across Austin, Texas.
