We are Nick and Allie Friesen. We photograph weddings from our home in Austin, Texas and wherever your wedding actually is. Costa Rica, Charlotte, San Francisco so far. Travel is included in every collection, so you see one number and no expense reports. Destination weddings are custom, typically $18,000 and up.
How does flying us to your wedding work?
You book us the same way an Austin couple does. We arrange and pay for our own flights, lodging, and ground transport. Travel is built into the collection price, so you never see a separate travel invoice. We arrive at least one full day before your wedding and scout the venue that evening.
- Check your date. Tell us the city, and the venue if you have one. We reply within 48 hours.
- We send a custom collection. One number that covers coverage, flights, and lodging.
- We book our own travel. You plan a wedding, not our itinerary.
- We arrive at least a day early and walk the ceremony site in the same light as your ceremony.
- We photograph the wedding. Eight to ten hours is typical, and destination weekends often run multiple days.

What does a destination wedding photographer cost?
Destination weddings are quoted as custom collections, typically $18,000 and up. That number covers our coverage, our flights, our lodging, and our ground transport. Austin and Texas weddings begin at $8,000. There are no travel line items and no fees added after the fact.

Questions couples ask us
Do you charge travel fees?
No. Travel is included in the collection price. We book and pay for our own flights, lodging, and ground transport, and you see one number. Texas weddings begin at $8,000 with travel across the state included. Destination collections are custom, typically $18,000 and up.
How far in advance should we book?
Nine to fourteen months ahead is typical for destination weddings. We photograph a limited number of weddings each year and travel dates fill first. If your date is closer than that, ask anyway. Some of our favorite weddings came together on short timelines.
When do you arrive?
At least one full day before a domestic wedding and usually two days before an international one. We use the buffer to scout the venue and walk the ceremony site at the same hour as your ceremony. Flight delays get absorbed by that buffer, not by your wedding.
Do you photograph destination engagement sessions?
Yes. Karthik and Tira met us on the headlands above the Golden Gate in San Francisco. Sessions outside Texas are quoted the same way as weddings: one price with travel included.
Do we plan any of your travel?
No. You send the date and the venue. We handle flights, rooms, rental cars, and backup gear that flies in the cabin with us. Your only travel job is your own.
