Wimberley wedding photography.
Friesen Co photographs weddings in Wimberley, Texas. We are an Austin studio about an hour up the road, and we have shot here for real: Jasmin and Grant were married at Inspiring Oaks Ranch in Wimberley, and their gallery is below. Wedding collections begin at $8,000.
The valley, honestly described
Wimberley sits where Cypress Creek meets the Blanco River, a small town folded into the hills between Austin and San Antonio. It earned its wedding reputation the honest way: bald cypress along the creek, limestone ledges, ranchland that rolls instead of sprawls, and a town square small enough that your guests will find the coffee without a map. Blue Hole Regional Park and Jacob's Well are the landmarks people drive in for. Couples marry here for the same reason photographers volunteer for the drive, because the landscape does half the composition on its own.
The venues follow the land. Inspiring Oaks Ranch, where we photographed Jasmin and Grant, is typical of the best of them: stone buildings under big oaks, a getting-ready suite with rustic wood and Spanish tile, and enough acreage that the ceremony, cocktail hour, and portraits each get their own view rather than three angles of the same one.
Light in Wimberley, from experience
Hill Country light is generous but it keeps its own schedule. Because the town sits in a valley, a west-facing ridge can take your direct sun 20 or 30 minutes before the printed sunset time, so we plan portraits earlier than the almanac suggests and treat the last stretch as a bonus rather than the plan. The reward for the early exit is real: once the sun drops behind the hills, the whole valley holds a soft blue afterglow that flatters every skin tone in the wedding party. Summer afternoons are bright and hard-edged; oak shade and limestone bounce are how we work through them.
