Two proposals we planned and photographed. Jake picked a railing above the water, set a sign and a candle at the fence, and waited while Riley walked toward him in the last hour of sun. James asked Kelli inside the greenhouse at the Sekrit Theater in East Austin, glass overhead, vines through the panes. Later, the two of them on a leather sofa, still laughing.
How does a surprise proposal shoot work?
You tell us the plan and we build the shoot around it. We scout the location, pick the exact spot and camera angles, and are in position 30 minutes early, dressed like anyone else out for a walk. You get a signal when we are ready. We photograph the question, the answer, and a short portrait session after.
Every proposal is planned twice. Once with you, on a call, down to where you stand and which direction you face. Once by us on the ground, at the same hour, so we know the light and the foot traffic. If the spot is busy, we hold it. If the light shifts, we have a second angle ready. You have one job.
How much does a proposal photographer cost in Austin?
Proposal coverage begins at $2,500. That includes planning help, a scouted location and exact spot, hidden coverage of the moment itself, and a portrait session together afterward. If you keep us for the celebration after, we quote that as part of the plan. Wedding collections begin at $8,000.

Where are the best places to propose in Austin?
Mount Bonnell for the river view, the Butler Trail boardwalk for the skyline over Lady Bird Lake, Mayfield Park for the cottage garden and peacocks, Laguna Gloria for the lakeside lawn, and the Zilker Botanical Garden for cover. We shot Jake and Riley at a railing above the water at golden hour.
